Jane Birkin is a style icon marked by the swinging sixties and her fueled relationship with Serge Gainsbourg. She was a symbol of hedonism, sexuality, liberation and beauty. jane birkin first appeared in Antonioni’s film Blow-Up, 1966, where she caused quite a stir being the first actress to display her pubic hair in mainstream cinema. Later Jane will marry Serge in a well media exposed, steamy and at the time scandalous relationship. Gainsbourg, renowned for his love of wild partying and nightlife, began appearing everywhere with Jane on his arm – often with a trail of photographers hot on their heels. In 1969, she and Gainsbourg released the duet “Je t’aime…Moi non plus”. The song caused a scandal for its sexual explicitness, and was banned by radio stations in several countries, including the UK.
